Position Summary

The University of Memphis College of Health Sciences (CHS) invites applications for a dynamic and innovative individual to join our faculty as a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty member for a developing Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. The successful candidate will teach and serve as a core member, with a neurological focus, for the DPT program, in alignment with the mission of our program. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to contribute to the overall mission of the college and university and the capacity to be an effective instructor. Qualifications for the position include a doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) OR a physical therapy degree (BS, MS) and a PhD, DSc or terminal degree (ABD will be considered) in a related field. The individuals must possess teaching experience within a higher education setting, along with at least 3 years of clinical practice. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to and enhance teaching and mentoring activities within the DPT program, as well as participate in community and professional service appropriate for a university faculty member. The candidate should be a licensed physical therapist in Tennessee or their state of residence.

Again, this faculty position will predominately involve teaching responsibilities, including course instruction and student assessment, based upon experience and current needs of the program. Other responsibilities include course and program assessment, accreditation activities, academic advising, and coordinating and overseeing admission interviews. Providing service to the College, University, and profession is also expected.

  • Participate actively in program, college, institutional and/or professional service activities, including committee work, faculty meetings, and accreditation processes with current active membership in a professional society (i.e., APTA).

  • Mentor students in the academic setting, providing guidance, feedback, and support to facilitate their professional development and success.

  • Other duties as assigned or required by the Program Director or Dean.
