Certified Surgery Tech for Endoscopy & Surgery, Day Shift w/Call

Salary Range: $20.25 To $26.67 Hourly

Surgical Tech – Endoscopy and Surgery

MAIN FUNCTION:

Scrubs and assists the RN and other health care team members during surgical and endoscopic procedures. Assists in the care, preparation and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile equipment and supplies.

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:

• Current certification/licensure from an accredited program or obtain within one year of hire.
• Maintain a current AHA (American Heart Association) Healthcare Provider BLS card

Must be able to respond to the hospital within 30 MINUTES

or be willing to stay on site while on call.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Department Director, Clinical Manager, Charge Nurses

Operations

1. Verifies correct sponge, tape, needle, and instrument according to procedure.
2. Assists the RN in receiving the patient in operating room or procedure room, checks patient identity and chart to assure all necessary information has been completed.
3. Assists RN in assessing patient’s physical and emotional needs according to the patient’s age

and development.

1. Assembles necessary supplies and equipment and ascertains all are in working order.
2. Assists in properly positioning patient on operating table and preparing the operative site.
3. Using sterile technique, properly dons sterile gown and gloves, and technique sets up table with

instruments and supplies according to procedure.

1. Gowns and gloves members of the surgical team according to procedure.
2. Assists the surgeon and/or assistant during the operative procedure, anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
3. Cleans and checks scopes and instruments according to procedures.
4. Assist physician with Endoscopy procedures and Surgical cases.
5. Recognizes safety hazards and initiates appropriate corrective action.
6. Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and ability to translate it into patient care.

4 10hours shifts or 5 8hours shift per week plus call for evening hours, weekends, holidays

80 hours a pay period
