The Lead Pharmacist for Specialty and Home Delivery Operations plays a key leadership role within the UVA Health Pharmacy Enterprise, providing direct support and oversight of pharmacist daily operations across home delivery and specialty workflows. This position serves as a liaison between clinical teams, medication access, dispensing operations, and call center support, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care delivery. The role supports frontline pharmacists & technician teams, ensures quality assurance, facilitates pharmacist onboarding and training, and promotes adherence to compliance, accreditation, and payer contractual obligations. The Lead Pharmacist collaborates with pharmacy leadership and cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence and innovation while supporting the upcoming launch of Pharmacy Central Services Center.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and workflow coordination for specialty and home delivery pharmacists.
- Staffing and supporting dispensing operations within specialty and home delivery workflows.
- Oversee adherence to regulatory, accreditation (URAC/ACHC), and payer performance standards.
- Support implementation of refill retention and medication synchronization strategies.
- Facilitate onboarding, training, and mentorship for new pharmacists in support of operational readiness for PCSC.
- Partner with call center, medication access, and dispensing teams to streamline first fill and refill processes.
- Lead quality assurance efforts, including medication safety initiatives and process improvement projects.
- Act as a liaison between frontline staff and pharmacy leadership to ensure timely communication, issue escalation, and resolution.
Position Compensation Range: $55.67 – $89.07 Hourly
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor’s Degree Experience: No experience required. Licensure: Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License. BLS required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing and traveling for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull < 20lbs. May be exposed to chemicals
