General Statement of Job:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Dental Services, the Pediatric Dentist diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums, and related oral structures.

Essential Functions:

Examines the patient to determine nature of condition.

Provides preventive dental care and general dentistry.

Participates in outreach functions.

Educates patient in oral and dental hygiene.

Participates in collaborative efforts.

Collaborates in Quality Performance Improvement programs.

Provides instruction to dental assistants as needed.

Customer Service:

As a patient care facility the HCD PC Clinics and its staff are responsible for providing a high quality of internal and external customer service. The Dentist must demonstrate a focus on customer service and the ability to attain high levels of customer satisfaction by providing appropriate leadership. Maintaining positive relationships with customers both internally and externally is essential.

Communication:

The Dentist position requires excellent oral and written communication skills. This includes the ability to share information in a timely manner, both verbally and in writing; keeping peers, colleagues, and staff appropriately informed. The position also requires interpersonal skills such as effective listening, appropriate use of style and language for audience, and productive processing of information.

The Dentist position is expected to process information in an analytical fashion and be able to communicate findings and results effectively. This includes effective verbal presentation and written analysis adjusting language and terminology to the needs of the audience.

Teamwork:

The Pediatric Dentist position has responsibility over clinical care as assigned by the Director. The Dentist must be adept at dealing with varying personality types, patients, families, physicians, peers, supervisors and external parties. They must be able to independently determine the timing and manner of presentation in which each situation is addressed.

Productivity:

The Pediatric Dentist must be able to work toward multiple goals concurrently and set priorities according to standards and guidelines.

The Pediatric Dentist ensure that service delivery is provided in a culturally competent way and consistently treats customers, stakeholders, partners, and coworkers with dignity and respect.

Education:

  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school is required.
  • Health Care District Primary Care Clinics providers must be licensed and registered as a DDS or DMD in the State of Florida.
  • Pediatric Dental Residency Required.

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of pediatric dentistry experience. Practice in community or public health setting preferable.

Certification:

Health Care District Primary Care Clinics providers must be licensed and registered as a DDS or DMD in the State of Florida.

Current ACLS or BLS certification required from the American Heart Association.

Licensure:

Unrestricted license from the Florida Dental Board.

Registrations:

Unrestricted license from the Florida Dental Board.
