Accountabilities

The Senior Medical Advisor – Oncology is a strategic and field-facing role responsible for the medical leadership and execution of Amgen’s solid tumor portfolio, including both in-line and pipeline products such as Tarlatamab and Bemarituzumab. The role ensures alignment with global strategies while tailoring for local needs and actively shaping the healthcare ecosystem through peer-to-peer scientific exchange, evidence generation initiatives, and execution of those strategies to maximize Amgen’s value proposition of in-line and pipeline products in alignment with product strategies.

Responsibilities

Medical Strategy & Execution

  • Lead the development and localization of medical strategies for Amgen’s oncology portfolio (such as Tarlatamab and Bemarituzumab), ensuring alignment with global direction while reflecting local market needs.
  • Execute strategic medical initiatives to support the value proposition and lifecycle management of in-line and pipeline products.
  • Provide medical and scientific leadership to cross-functional brand teams, contributing clinical and scientific insights into product planning, launch readiness, and value strategies.
  • Provide strategic input into labels, regulatory, reimbursement, policy, and promotional materials to support internal and external interactions.
  • Determine scientific and medical appropriateness of such materials (e.g., slide decks, publications, educational content) through the established review process.
  • May develop and manage the medical product budget and contribute to informed resource planning and allocation.

Scientific Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong scientific relationships with KOLs and scientific stakeholders to facilitate external understanding of disease areas, treatment landscape, and Amgen’s oncology portfolio.
  • As a scientific expert, collaborate with field Medicals for representing Amgen in scientific discussions, advisory boards, and medical society interactions.
  • Facilitate early and ongoing scientific exchange to generate insights that can guide internal strategy and external communication.

Evidence Generation & Communication

  • Identify local evidence gaps and lead or support medical evidence generation initiatives (e.g., Real-World Evidence, ISSs) in alignment with global medical plans and company’s area of interests.
  • Interpret and communicate clinical data to external and internal stakeholders through scientific platforms, publications, and educational activities.
  • Support the development and scientific accuracy of core medical content and key deliverables such as training materials, slide decks, and congress materials.
  • Provide medical leadership in evaluating and making decisions on IME (Independent Medical Education), donations, medical grants, and sponsorships where appropriate.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the medical voice in cross-functional collaborations, including Commercial, Regulatory, Value and Access, and Government Affairs, ensuring scientific integrity and alignment.
  • Provide medical insights to shape policy, reimbursement, and access strategies in collaboration with internal partners.
  • Participate in internal leadership and governance teams to influence strategic planning and business decision-making.

Medical Training & Internal Leadership

  • Provide scientific guidance and training to internal stakeholders, enhancing understanding of the treatment landscape and Amgen’s products.
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute to talent development within the organization and may recruit, retain, coach, mentor, motivate, and develop talent as appropriate.
  • Uphold compliance with regulatory and ethical standards in all medical activities.
  • Ensure that all medical activities are conducted in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and SOPs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • MD with ≥ 3 years of experience in medical affairs, OR PharmD, or PhD in relevant area with ≥ 5 years of experience in medical affairs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in oncology therapeutic area.
  • Experience in a hybrid/field role or MSL capacity or strategic role.
  • Proven ability to engage and build trusted relationships with HCPs through scientific exchange.
  • Deep understanding of clinical trial design, GCP, biostatistics, and evidence-based medicine.
  • Familiarity with the Korean healthcare ecosystem and payer environment.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration in a matrix environment.
